Dr. Roumeliotis is a pediatric critical care physician at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal. Having completed her critical care training in Montreal, she then pursued a fellowship at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children and is completing a Ph.D. in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. Her doctoral research, funded both provincially and nationally, is focused on the association between error and harm in pediatric critical care; using large epidemiological datasets. At Ste-Justine Hospital, she is setting up a program of research focused on safe discharge practices home directly from the pediatric ICU. She will use the post-ICU clinic at Ste-Justine, created by colleagues Dr. Dupont-Thibodeau and Dr. Ducharme-Crevier to evaluate neurodevelopmental outcomes, to follow patients discharged home without prompt access to a physician. Dr. Roumeliotis’ research focuses on improving the safety of the care provided to critically ill children.
