Ignacio Martin-Loeches, MD, PhD, FJFICMI is a full time Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine, Senior Clinical Lecturer & Research Director of the Multidisciplinary Intensive Care Research Organization (MICRO) at Trinity College and Associate Professor with Tenure at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Universidad de Barcelona, Spain. He has served as Deputy for the Sepsis and Infection Section and currently Chair for CoBaTrICE (Competency Based Training programme in Intensive Care Medicine for Europe and other world regions) at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and steering committee for the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, and Secretary of the Acute Critical Care at European Respiratory Society. He is the currently member of the Clinical Trials of Health Research Board in Ireland. He is an Elected Executive Council member of World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care and Global Sepsis Alliance. He is the principal Investigator of European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) and the European Network for ICU-related respiratory infections (ENIRRIs) under the European Respiratory Society (ERS). He regularly publishes in high impact factor journals and serves as section Editor at the Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) journal.
