Mark is an emergency physician and clinical toxicologist working at Cairns Hospital. Mark is a consultant to the National Poisons Information System, an editor of two textbooks in Emergency Medicine and Toxicology, and one of the Clinical Leaders of the Australian Medical Assistance Teams where he has deployed overseas 6 times to Indonesia, Philippines, NZ, & Bangladesh. He coordinates an international humanitarian course in New York every year.
He was commissioned as an Army Officer as an undergraduate in 1984. He returned earlier this year from his second tour of Iraq (the first been 28 yrs before!) as well as a 'camping trip' to Pakistan after the floods.
One of his areas of research in venomous marine creatures and it is likely he will somehow get this into todays discussion.
