Geoff Shaw

Geoff is currently a Professor in Intensive Care, Department of Anaesthesia, University of Otago, Christchurch and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Canterbury. He is also the first clinician to be made an honorary fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand.  His research interests include modelling and control of agitation-sedation, insulin-glucose dynamics, cardiovascular dynamics and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in critically ill patients. He has over 600 peer-reviewed publications. Other interests include arguing why evidence based medicine might be bad for you, building sundials and cosmology.
